The Charlotte Hornets have made plenty of moves already this offseason, but it appears as though the team isn't gearing up to add a star just yet. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, trade negotiations between the Hornets and Boston Celtics regarding Jaylen Brown have "cooled" despite Boston's interest in Naz Reid.
Last season with the Celtics, Brown posted career-high numbers while Jayson Tatum was sidelined for most of the year due to an Achilles injury. Brown completed the year with a sixth-place finish in MVP voting, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, one steal and 0.4 blocks. While Brown could certainly improve Charlotte's status in the Eastern Conference, the remaining three years of his current contract are quite pricey ($183 million). Considering this and the lack of stars available on the trade market, it appears as though the Hornets are holding off from making a big splash until the time is right.
