That just seems so improbable. It's not like there is a team holding the #2 and #5 picks to swap with easily. We'd have to orchestrate a trade down and a trade up with two separate teams at the same time hoping the draft fell just perfectly.

Exactly, I haven't even seen any good fan fiction trades that net the Suns two top 7 picks for their #1. Even crazed fans can't come up with a plausible explanation of how this might happen.

I agree, there is no realistic offer better than Ayton, so no point in saying they have to be open to options. If McDonough is even considering a trade then he needs to be removed from decision making duties.

Yeah that’s where I am at as well. That’s a LOT of moving parts that have to fall in place. It requires at least three teams, maybe four. It requires a LOT of assets from multiple teams, meaning each of them have to play their individual Rubik’s cube and come to the conclusion that the assets coming in are worth more to them than the assets going out given their current team makeup. And even then, the two picks coming back to the suns likely have to be two top 4 or 5 picks to ensure they get two of the players they want to even attempt this, which is really highly unlikely.
Yup. No need over think this or get cute.

First let me say I'm happy with Ayton at #1.
I agree with others the above type trade is difficult and would require some luck. It would require two separate trades.
It starts with the Suns finding a team to trade down to say #3 or #4 so they can draft i.e., Bamba or Jackson. The Suns would have to pick up significant assets in the trade to make it worthwhile. Then the Suns would need to bundle those assets with #16 and a couple of more first round picks to get a team to consider letting them move back into the top 7 or so... maybe slightly later.
Additionally a player the Suns like would have to slide a bit.
A simple way to look at it, the Suns would trade down for Jackson or Bamba, then use a ton of assets to throw at another lottery team drafting early if a player they like slides.
Maybe a player the Suns like doesn't slide so they would have to be happy with whoever they draft as much as Ayton. However, they could use those additional assets to overwhelm a team with a trade offer for a player this summer.

Wow. That’s fascinating. He must be killing it in workouts. We, and most of the mainstream media, have just relegated him to the last of top 7 picks (or so it seems) but we might be missing something here.

He’s probably 2nd behind Ayton in workout warriors. I knew a team would see the KD potential and take him top-3. He was the #1 ranked HS player after all.
Some of these trade scenarios are pure garbage. MPJ should be there at 4 if Memphis wants him. That back is going to be cause for concern for many teams.
McD would hit a homerun if he were able to get both Ayton and Doncic without trading away Booker or Josh Jackson in the process.

Ayton is the safe pick. No one should fault McD for taking him and getting upset that Bagley or Bamba ends up the better pro. I highly doubt Ayton won't be a solid player and a franchise Center. A franchise Center doesn't need to be an All-Star, but they can't be too far from it either. I could see him averaging 16 & 10 at the least and manning the position for close to a decade. Sort of like a Brook Lopez. Not great but not bad either. A dependable player that you know what to expect he'll give night in and night out. Having Jackson and Booker would alleviate the sting if he's never an All-Star. Booker should be in the discussion this year and Jackson is on his way. Not a lot of teams have 3 All-Stars around the same age, locked in long term. So if Booker and Jackson are All-Star wings with a sturdy Center like Ayton to round out our Big 3, we should be a team to contend with. I believe Ayton is more likely to be an All-Star than Jackson though and he'll more than likely be our #2 option, possibly our #1a or #1b with Booker. If that happens, we'll contend for titles. Ayton is the most likely to lead us to title contention, IMO.

He said Lebron is infatuated with the idea of playing with Trae Young so the Lakers are shopping Ball and Ingram to get a top 5 pick to select him.

I said that would be his floor, he'd average no less than that. Everybody is a gamble to some degree. Ayton is as close to a sure thing as possible. 16 & 10 isn't bad enough to throw in the towel and cry bust. I think he'll be doing that as a rookie with 22 & 12 being what he'll produce by his 2nd or 3rd season.
I can't see Bamba coming close to that in his rookie year. Bagley might, depending on where he goes, and Jackson is unlikely to hit either 16 ppg or 10 boards within the next couple of seasons. He's a project, like Bamba, only a bigger project who may not offer as much and will take longer to figure out what he's capable of.

There's this post from that idiot, which is not even possible under the CBA. He is 100% making things up. He said Al Horford will take a paycut and restructure his contract so the Celtics can sign Lebron. That isn't happening for a few reasons but one of the main reasons is that players can only renegotiate their contracts to increase them, not decrease to create cap room for their team.
Of course, if this was really being discussed, it wouldn't be Mr 9 followers breaking the news. He also said Ainge will only sign Lebron if Lebron accepts it's Kyrie's team and he takes a pay cut. That actually made me laugh. Ainge would send Irving to Atlanta if it meant he could have Lebron on the Celtics.

I wish there was more film on the guy.
From what I did see he has terrible footwork on his jumper. His toes were pointing three different directions on three different shots. Most often they point left at a 45 degree angle putting tons of unnecessary stress on his back and knees. That can cause long term problems which doesn't bode well for a guy who had back surgery at 19 years old.
I'm gonna guess that his poor elevation in traffic is due to his back issues. He had very little lift post surgery. I'm interested to see what he he looks like in work outs.
Defensively he has poor footwork. He's often flat footed on the perimeter and not exactly a rim protector.
There's a ton of red flags for a team to pass on Bamba or Bagley to get Porter. I just don't see enough there to warrant a top 5 pick in a LOADED draft.
He could be Griffin or he could be Oden.
