Vikings | James out for season with torn ACL
Mon, 18 Sep 2006 12:49:10 -0700

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings DL Erasmus James (knee) is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. James will rehab the injury for about two weeks and then will undergo season-ending surgery on his knee. Head coach Brad Childress has not made it clear as to how James will be replaced. Rookie DL Ray Edwards may start at James' position of right end or the team could move DL Kenechi Udeze from left end to right end and start DL Darrion Scott at left end.

Linebacker David Pollack was placed on the injured reserve list Monday with a neck injury, but the Cincinnati Bengals expect him to be fully recovered for next season.

Pollack was taken off the field on a neck board after making a tackle in the first quarter of a 34-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He was later transferred to a local hospital, where he was put in a protective halo brace.

Coach Marvin Lewis said Pollack's spinal cord wasn't damaged. He has full sensation in his arms and legs, and doctors are hopeful that the halo brace - which immobilizes the neck - will allow the injury to heal without surgery.

"It's not career-threatening," Lewis said.

did anyone see the replay? I am wondering why he decided to tackle like that. I hate that it happened, but Dear God, what was he thinking?
