Tottenham Hotspur remain firmly attentive to Cody Gakpo’s situation at Liverpool and are ready to step up their pursuit if the Reds finalise a deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. Andoni Iraola and Roberto De Zerbi are at Anfield and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, respectively.
Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi has prioritised strengthening his wide attacking options, and while the North Londoners have been linked with Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, Gakpo remains a higher priority.
However, a transfer currently hinges on a delicate Premier League domino effect. Liverpool are negotiating for Barcola, who has informed PSG of his desire to leave France. If the Reds secure the French international, they would likely need to balance their squad depth and recoup significant funds, potentially opening the door for Gakpo’s departure.
At present, Gakpo’s valuation remains a major hurdle for Tottenham. Having signed a long-term contract at Anfield through 2030, Liverpool hold strong leverage and are under no immediate pressure to sell. Furthermore, new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is assessing his squad before approving any major departures. As a result, Spurs view Liverpool’s current asking price as too high to trigger a formal proposal at this stage.
Nevertheless, with Barcola prioritising a move to Anfield, Tottenham are poised to act as soon as Liverpool’s financial stance softens. If the Reds allow wide players to leave to make room for new arrivals, Spurs are expected to turn their interest into a formal bid for the Dutchman.
They remain in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho, who has informed his current club of his intention to leave in search of regular game time.
