The Arizona Wildcats are getting set to face off against Michigan in the Final Four with a chance to go to the national championship. As the programs descend on Indianapolis for the weekend, the North Carolina Tar Heels continue to be a big talking point.
That's because they are pursuing Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd.
The Wildcats head coach is reportedly the top candidate for the Tar Heels' open position and with the search over a week old, UNC has to wait until Lloyd is eliminated. But that hasn't stopped the media from asking Lloyd about the UNC job.
On Thursday in his media session, Lloyd was asked about the UNC job again. He reiterated that he's focused on coaching Arizona in the Final Four.
“I’ve got my full focus on this team. Nothing is distracting me… I’m 100% locked in on Arizona basketball right now… This team deserves my full attention, so that’s what I’m giving them.”
That's pretty much expected from Lloyd as he's the head coach of Arizona. However, what is interesting is that Lloyd has yet to come out and flat-out say no. That leaves the door open for him to be interested in the North Carolina job.
He's echoed these comments a few times the past few weeks and I have to imagine that he's getting a little tired of answering them.
Things will start to get more interesting after this weekend and it could be settled at this time next week.
