The Tennessee Titans took to the field on Monday for their first practice in pads, and everyone could feel the intensity click up a notch.
With both fans and media in attendance, the Titans started to truly lay the groundwork for what head coach Robert Saleh believes will be one of the most intense and physical training camps most players have experienced.
The NFL acclimation period is over, and now the real competition is underway. Here are some of the standouts mentioned on the fourth day of practice.
Ward had his best day at camp and made some outstanding throws throughout the session, but he also mixed in a couple of forced throws that turned into interceptions. While it’s only the first day of pads, these interceptions provide a great baseline to watch for in the future to see if these forced throws become a trend.
Williams came into camp in the best shape of his career and is flashing on a daily basis. On Saturday, he had a pick, and today he was all over the field. Currently penciled in as one of the starters, Williams is making a strong push to keep it that way.
Ayomanor carried over his outstanding performance without pads and again proved to be a matchup problem for the defense. Ayomanor put in a lot of work during the offseason, and it shows.
After missing most of the offseason recovering from a Senior Bowl injury, Singleton looks healthy and dynamic and makes plays.
Titans reporter Jim Wyatt summed it up best in his ten observations column.
The Titans are scheduled to have three more padded practices this week, and the intensity and physicality should increase every day. Day 5 of camp had some great back-and-forth action, so stay tuned to see what Day 6 has in store.

Don’t let the INTs fool you, Cam Ward is absolutely SHREDDING today folks…
Cam throwing a few bad balls is actually a GOOD THING at this stage in camp.
He needs to calibrate what he can and can’t do.
Playing it too safe is actually BAD THING! pic.twitter.com/rXN0bQylQh

Pads are back, and so is the physicality
Titans reporter Jim Wyatt summed it up best in his ten observations column.
The pads came on for the first time on Monday, and it didn't take long for things to get feisty. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and tackle JC Latham had to be separated in a big group of players during a dustup after the second play from scrimmage, a Tyjae Spears run. On this day, there were no punches thrown after this incident, or any others, but things were a little more intense.
