Vrabel has the "it" factor. Excellent pedigree. Gravitas, charisma, knowledge, football IQ...he has it all. Will be interested to see what his staff looks like, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Based on what? Is it that he coached the defense that allowed the most points in the NFL even though that defense is littered with high draft choices?

I actually know Vrabel, golfed with him and played basketball against him, years ago. He's a good guy but nothing screams head coach about him. He's kind of a loose cannon and immature. He's not detail oriented and doesn't have a "presence" about him. He is competitive though. I'll give him that.

I think he'd make a better college coach than in the NFL. Maybe he'll prove me wrong but I just don't see it. I don't even see how he was a candidate, much less given a job.

You are right, Vrable struggled in his first year as DC. Losing CB A.J. Bouye to FA and DE J.J. Watt didn't help...plus the Texans made no FA additions in the off-season while losing S Quintin Demps, NT Vince Wolfork, LB John Simon and LB Akeem Dent.

I am surprised by your other assessments of him. Here in NE he always has had a presence and a distinct charisma about him and was always a team first player---not a loose cannon or immature---yes boisterous at times, but always in a highly competitive way.

People need to want the job to interview for it. Shaw, Harbaugh, Saban, and Meyer aren't interested in the Cardinals job.
