Titans' Anthony Hill named a 'best fit' for team from NFL draft

The Tennessee Titans had a total of eight picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Mike Borgonzi and his team used those picks wisely, nailing down some important pieces for the upcoming season and the future of the franchise. Selecting Carnell Tate at No. 4 gave Cam Ward another weapon on the field, and the Titans added key pieces on defense, including linebacker Anthony Hill.

Borginzi raised some eyebrows when he traded back into the first round to select Kendric Faulk, but it was clear he had a plan. Hill was taken in the second round, and ESPN's Matt Bowen believes Hill is the best fit among draft picks for the Titans.

Why he fits: Hill's range and speed fit as a stack linebacker in new coach Robert Saleh's defense. In addition to his ability to track the ball on the perimeter and strike blockers, Hill can impact coverage and pressure schemes. Look for him to match inside seams or roam the underneath zones in pass coverage.

Hill can also create ball production under Saleh, finishing with eight forced fumbles and three interceptions in college. In Saleh's overload fronts, Hill can attack the interior gaps and edges through stunts. He had 17 career sacks at Texas.

During his three seasons at Texas, Hill recorded a total of 250 tackles (138 solo), four passes defensed, 17 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and three interceptions for 35 yards.

One of the things the Titans' defense struggled with in 2025 was getting pressure on the quarterback. They had 42 total sacks, but allowing over 4,800 yards through the air ranked them as the seventh-worst in the NFL. Hill is a player who can fill those gaps; he can use his size, speed, and agility to break through and get real pressure on opposing quarterbacks. If that pressure can be applied regularly, it will give the secondary a fighting chance to break up passes and disrupt the opposing offense's plan.

Under Robert Saleh and Gus Bradley's tutelage, Hill could become one of those players who sneak up on you in 2026.
