Just days after the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster trade that sent the former Milwaukee Bucks star to the Miami Heat, another high-profile Eastern Conference player is on the move. Rumors circulated on Wednesday, June 24, that the Charlotte Hornets were considering trading LaMelo Ball, and the Minnesota Timberwolves were the perceived frontrunners. It didn't take long for a deal to come to fruition: the two sides agreed to terms less than 24 hours later, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.

The trade reportedly includes the following:

  • Timberwolves receive: LaMelo Ball and Josh Green
  • Hornets receive: Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029 and 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032 and 2033)

The trade is pick-heavy in terms of what the Hornets received in exchange for Ball, although it does address a need in the frontcourt with the addition of Reid. As for the Timberwolves, they get the highly coveted star addition to pair in the backcourt with Anthony Edwards.

Let's take a look at the updated Timberwolves starting lineup and roster:
