The Minnesota Timberwolves are proving that their Conference Finals run last season wasn't a fluke, as they're up 3-1 in their first-round bout with the Los Angeles Lakers and could eliminate them on Wednesday night. Backup center Naz Reid is a big reason why, as he's averaging 13.8 points on 55.9 percent shooting (52.4 percent 3 PT) with 4.3 rebounds in 24.8 minutes off the bench in the series.
Reid averaged a career-high 14.2 points on 46.2 percent shooting (37.9 percent 3 PT) in the regular season after winning Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2023-24. The 25-year-old credited Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch for his success, via The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

“He’s kind of had that faith in me throughout the whole year,” Reid said. “I’ve kind of grown to be a player that you can kind of count on.”
Reid's two-way abilities make him a headache to deal with on both ends of the floor, so much so that Lakers head coach JJ Redick benched center Jaxson Hayes for all but four minutes in Game 4. The LSU alum is a cult hero in Minnesota because he started as an un-drafted free agent in 2019 who spent time in the G League before working his way up to where he is now.
If the Timberwolves eliminate Los Angeles, they'll face the winner of the Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets series in the second round. Game 5 will be at Crypto.com Arena and will start at 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PM PST.
