Tiger Woods paid tribute to his father on Memorial Day, in his first public statement since his car crash in Florida nearly two months ago.

“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service,’’ Woods, 50, wrote on X. “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.’’

Earl Woods died in 2006.

It was the first statement Wood has made since March 31, four days after a car crash that led to him being charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Woods passed a breathalyzer but refused to take a urine test.

“I understand the seriousness in which I find myself today,’’ he wrote in a last statement on X.

The golfing legend reportedly has spent several weeks in Switzerland for inpatient rehabilitation treatment but temporarily returned to Florida at the same time his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, disclosed she has breast cancer.

Woods has won 15 majors, the last coming at the 2019 Masters Tournament. His last competitive round also took place at the Masters in 2024.
