That sucks, and is shocking. 100%??? Damn.

I'm willing to bet it's delicious (other than the fact you picked my least favorite flavor).

Don't know much about Listeria; is it a dairy-related bacteria, or would it be possible to get it in coconut-milk-based products?

(I know why you posted it, Krepitch; just got me to wondering)

Blue Bell be like..

I'd rather have listeria
If you like coconut (meat or milk) that stuff is goooood.

It's similar to salmonella, but not similar. Both make you sick and can be prevented with better preparation and cooking. Listeria is an infectious bacteria, but if the food - milk in this case likely from the cows gut - is cooked right it should kill it. Salmonella is food positioning which if the food is washed, prepped and cooked right should kill it too.

If it's anything like their coffee creamer I'll pass 10/10 times.

I'd still eat it. Living is a risky proposition. My ancestors didn't get food recalled and they lived long enough to procreate damnit!

I dared them last night. Indulged in 2 oz. of Blue Bell Vanilla mini cup. Here I am this morning. My one indulgence in food that ain't good for you. I figure one every 3 days. I have a 3 week supply left at that rate.

I strained it through a coffee filter then refroze it. That should get rid of those listerians.

I know it can spread in fruit sometimes, so I would imagine it could spread in anything, but dairy products are the most common sources. Of course, listeria is far from the only risk you take when you consume dairy. Also, as far as I know, none of us on this board is a baby cow, so we shouldn't be drinking milk, anyway.

BTW, there's also a massive avian flu outbreak right now.

Is it too late?

I can't see the link you posted, but the death toll is at four now, I believe.

It also seems as if the problem began in 2010. I'd find an alternative to Blue Bell, even if it is another dairy product.
