For the first time in Jay Johnson's tenure at LSU, the Tigers have begun the season at 6-0. LSU took a trip east to Jacksonville, Florida, for a three-day tournament where they are scheduled to play Indiana, Notre Dame, and UCF. Today, they started with Indiana.

Casan Evans got the start on the mound once again, and this time he was able to go five innings, giving up three runs on three hits, four strikeouts, and two walks. After the seventh inning, LSU found itself trailing the Hoosiers 5-4. That's when "Big Poppa" happened. Zach Yorke hit a three-run homer to give LSU the lead, and the Tigers never looked back.

Here are three takeaways from today's win.

Shoutout to the late Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G. LSU's "Big Poppa" Zach Yorke hit a three-run homer in a big spot for the Tigers to give them the lead back late in this game. Yorke finished the game 3-for-5 from the plate with a homer, a walk, and four RBI.

We got to see True Freshman Mason Braun hit his first collegiate homer in Baton Rouge, and he has carried that confidence all the way to Jacksonville. He had an incredible day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBI on this hit in the eighth inning.

Monster Milam had his first Monster game

We have mentioned a lot of LSU hitters and how they have been blistering the baseball this season, but one guy we have not talked much about is Steven Milam. Milam entered today with a .278 batting average, which was the lowest average of any of the "everyday" starters. He changed that today by going 3-for-5 at the plate and raising his average to .348.
