After dropping the series to Oklahoma, LSU baseball looked to rebound as the Tigers welcomed the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs into Alex Box Stadium. LSU took care of business, with a run-rule walk-off victory powered by a six-run eighth inning.
LSU did not have many problems hitting the ball and scoring runs tonight as the Tigers finished with 15 runs on 14 hits. Derek Curiel and Stephen Milam led the way at the plate, with both finishing the night 3-for-5. Here are three takeaways from tonight's game.
The bottom three hitters in the lineup, Stephen Milam, Zach Yorke, and Trent Caraway, combined to go 7-for-14 (.500) from the plate tonight with two homers and four RBI. Both of those homers and all the RBI came off the bat of Yorke.
This is piggybacking off of the first post, but it was great seeing Yorke get back into the swing of things. Recently, he had been struggling at the plate and was replaced at first by Omar Serna Jr against Oklahoma. Yorke did some damage with his bat against the Bulldogs.
The LSU pitching staff was able to hold Louisiana Tech to only five runs tonight, but there was a lot of action on the bases for the Bulldogs. LSU pitchers struck out 11 hitters but walked seven batters. The seven walks led to opportunities for Tech to score and they were able to capitalize.
