LSU baseball gave the ball to William Schmidt for Game 2 of the three-game series vs. the Kentucky Wildcats. He replaced Cooper Moore, who will be out for a while. Schmidt's usual Sunday start was moved up to Saturday, but it did not seem to affect Schmidt in the slightest. Schmidt was great, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing zero runs on six hits, striking out three, and issuing two walks.

LSU was able to get some production from the bottom of the lineup today as the Tigers took game two and never really struggled in this one. Here are three takeaways from LSU baseball's Saturday win over Kentucky.

Great game for Mason Braun

Mason Braun had a great day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI. Jay Johnson penciled him in as the DH for the game today, and he provided some pop in the bottom of the lineup that LSU desperately needed.

Schmidt shoves

I feel like Schmidt gets better every outing. Even though he started a day earlier than usual, Schmidt was able to shut the Kentucky Wildcats' lineup down for five innings, giving him the win for this game.

Great close by Cowan

Zac Cowan did an incredible job today. He pitched 3.2 innings and gave up zero runs on one hit, seven strikeouts, and one walk. He was able to eat up multiple innings and really help the pitching situation for Game three tomorrow.
