I am sooooooo pissed that we missed out on Trevor Laws. I am not happy with this pick at all. I would have much rather had Connor, Quentin Groves or Ray Rice.

The team can spit that BPA BS all they want, but they go after need with every early pick they have. I wanna PUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would Connor or Groves be better than Campbell?

With his size plus arm reach, it should be tough for the QB to throw over those outstretched arms.

I'm confused by that too. We needed depth on the line and people to push the incumbents, particularly at DE. Linebackers don't matter for spit if theirs no line in front of them tying up the O-Lineman. Our D-line died last season because Berry and Chike were injured and we didn't have enough depth behind them. Dockett would have had an even bigger season if we had ANY sort of outside threat on the line.

I really like Connor. He is an all effort all the time tackling machine.

Groves I like as a pass rusher.

Campbell just doesn't fit the D in my eyes. I am not trying to state it as fact, JMHO.

DL A Smith may be in his last year. DL C Campbell was discussed on this board earlier as the Cardinals first rd pick. I think its a good pick.

Dockett plays End, he IS the outside threat on the line.

What have we done to prove him wrong????????????

Drafted someone as good or better than him.

Depth is important on the d-line. Watson is hurt. Branch needs to step up and play inside with a vengance. Smith and Campbell hopefully will provide the depth that we need on the d-line.

Smith can contine to b*tch and slack off or provide the depth like he has in the past.

I hope I am wrong about him. Maybe the team thinks John Lott can put 20+lbs on him and make a serviceable lineman.

I'm very curious as to what weight you think Smith and Dockett play at, to think Campbell would get run over at 290 lbs?

Unless this guy can put on some weight teams will just run over him.
Huh? Is 290 not big enough for you?

And Calais is one of the best run stopping linemen in this draft.

Dockett was inside untill the injures and then was shifted outside because we had NO depth.
:doi:

No he wasn't. Dockett was an end all season. he was an end in training camp.

We play a 3-4 base. Gabe/Branch on the inside, Dockett Smith on the outside.

They are going to 'run over' a guy who is 6'8 and 282lbs? WTH?

The fact that you only think he could be 'serviceable' shows that you haven't even bothered to read up on the guy.

He's a great fit...

He could easily play end in a 3-4... He's gonna end up being about 6'7" 300 pounds if that is where we want him to play.. look around the league.. that is what the ends of a 3-4 play at..

However, if we want him to play a traditional 4-3 Dend, he'll have to lose some of the weight he packed on this yr..

As for LB.. no chance..

Bottomline, when they find a role for him and get him to the ideal weight (which could be bigger or smaller than the 290 he's at now) he is as gifted as any DE in this draft outside of Chris Long

base 3-4? really what did we run the first 8 games when Dockett tore it up and was INSIDE. We didn't have the personnel to run a 3-4 and ran some screwed up hybrid that end up being a 3-4 by the end of the year because we had squat for linemen.

He was 280 last I checked, and 280 is much different on a 6-8 frame. He has a slender athletic build IMO. In fact, he looks like a giant LB to me. You are one of the few on here whose opinion I usually trust over mine as far as college guys go though so if you think he fits, I will rethink my position.
