Thinking back to 2012. Wasn’t Whisenhunt “safe” going into that last game?

I recall back in 2012 when all the talking heads were saying that Ken Whisenhunt was safe and expected back in 2013. The announcement that he was fired on Black Monday came as a surprise to the national media. So either Michael was either ultra tight lipped about his decision to fire Whisenhunt or the decision came down at the last minute. I know all the tea leaves are pointing to Gannon returning. I don’t buy it. Whisenhunt went 4-12 that last year, but in 2011 they pieced together a decent, by Cardinals standards, season with John Skelton as the primary starter. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks they leaked the Gannon is returning narrative to see fan and season ticket holder response. The massive negative reaction from the fan base and local media cemented that Michael will keep Ossenfort, but Gannon is a goner. Knowing me, I will be totally wrong and Gannon is retained. If that happens, I will still love the Big Red as I have for 46 years, but I am not investing in the TV package to watch them every week. Living far away in Illinois, I have invested in the Sunday ticket for every year it has existed, even during the McGinnis era. I guess this is my way of protesting if Gannon is retained and if I was an Arizona resident, I would cancel my season tickets if Gannon stays. Sorry to vent!

Great post Lomax to Green. Really interesting angle, plus I believe you nicely summed up how most of us are feeling when we consider the idea of things remaining the same after this debacle.
