Two New Jersey private schools have earned national recognition among the top high schools for student athletes in the United States, according to the latest rankings released by Niche.
Delbarton School, an all-boys Catholic school in Morris County, ranked as the No. 9 school for student-athletes. It also ranked as the No. 4 Catholic high school in America and the No. 6 all-boys high school nationwide. The school also claimed the top spot in New Jersey among boys' schools, Catholic schools and high schools for athletes.
Founded in 1939, Delbarton School is a Benedictine Catholic college-preparatory school for boys in grades 7-12. The Morristown institution is known for its rigorous academics, leadership programs and nationally recognized athletic teams, with a mission centered on educating the whole person — mind, body and spirit.
Meanwhile, Bergen Catholic High School was ranked No. 22 for student-athletes. It also ranked No. 26 all-boys high school in the country and the No. 34 Catholic high school nationwide. Within New Jersey, the school ranked second among boys' schools and schools for athletes, while placing fifth among Catholic high schools.
Bergen Catholic High School, founded in 1955 and located in Oradell, is an all-boys Catholic college-preparatory school sponsored by the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers. The school has earned a reputation for academic excellence and one of the state's premier athletic programs, producing numerous collegiate and professional athletes while emphasizing leadership, faith and service.
