Better off silent
Does he though? How many years are you willing to wait before he “gets better”?I couldn't disagree more.
The Suns finally have someone on a longer bargain contract who still has potential to get better.

I am fine with him as a back up center. Either Williams or Man Man needs to step up as the starter. Really, we should be more worried about starting center position. I don't think we can keep going with Oso as a starter. Oso would be great as a PF, EXCEPT that's where you really really need a jumper and three point shot in this modern NBA. I remember the good old days when PF was the bruiser that rebounded and couldn't shoot. LOL. Now they have to be able to hit the three point shot, or else! LOL.Does he though? All this is true, and individually, he has to add at least some sort of gravity to himself. He at the least has to be a little bit of a threat on offense to score.I am fine with him as a back up center. Either Williams or Man Man needs to step up as the starter. He already got better, further development is needed but not unlikely. Even at this point he is a decent backup C.Does he though? How many years are you willing to wait before he “gets better”?
Oso has great court vision as a facilitator on offense and can spot clear paths to basket while filling out that role. He dunked a lot that way, but against recovering centers, he needs to get rid of his ugly forward-leaning push shots and develop a regular jump shots and/or flowter in the paint like Hartenstein perfectedAll this is true, and individually, he has to add at least some sort of gravity to himself. Sadly he will never be a PF in today’s NBA.
Oso is a quality role player on a minimum contract... we could get a mid to late 1st for him and would almost certainly lose the trade.
I really don't get why solid role players are so often the target of scorn.
He is waaaaay better than Nick Richards and Richards cost us picks and his contract was twice as big.
In a couple years, when Oso is looking at free agency and if he hasn't evolved... that is the time to take a look at his value.
In the case of Oso I believe the scorn is more deserving for Ott and how he uses Oso. I have little issue with him as a backup but he's not a starter and should rarely see the floor in the 4th quarter unless his FT% improves to at least 65%+.
Well, the plan wasn't for him to start, Williams couldn't stay healthy, Richards is terrible and Man man wasn't ready yet.
I get that but Ott played him way too much. He shouldn't have seen more than 20 minutes a game unless he was putting up big numbers. Hopefully his minutes are less next year or he's added something to his game.
It's not that different than Monty overusing Shamet. Oso seems to be a favorite of Ott's.
I honestly don’t know what Ott was supposed to do, other than what he did.
Statistically it’s easier to argue Oso should have actually played more given the alternatives on the roster.
