His passing has been excellent and getting better. He moves so well for 6-11.

And his D has been great as mentioned here. He also works hard on the boards. He does not play soft in any way.

It’s just the shooting.

Big Oso fan.

I like the Lamar Odom comparisons. He is not the scorer Odom was (and Odom was not a big scorer) but he is more versatile on D and not addicted to crack.

I don't know of there are any soccer fans here but he reminds me of Thomas Muller, a guy who has no stand out traits but always seems to be a step ahead of what is happening.

i figured it out - oso is clairvoyant - not in the california hotline psychics way but in the "i play pg too" way

oso knows when the pg is trying to suck him in - he's constantly scanning sometimes seeing the open man before the ball handler does - one thing he doesn't get credit for is stopping drives and passss before they ever happen

ball handler gets a step on one of our guys and oso finds the sweet spot to defend - the sweet spot between the ball handler - the player he's supposed to be covering - and the rim - oso is the nucleolus

that's what ott's found on defense - a 7 foot super computer making smart decisions in real time while becoming a grown ass man

I think we should pump the brakes a bit. He’s improved, some games. His better performances have been against lower teams. He just needs to be consistent because he does impact the game. Glad he’s not a detriment to the team like he was early on in the season

I'd agree. He's earned his minutes this year, which is big, but he has a number of big warts that need worked on. His FT is atrocious, which makes him unplayable late in close games, and his lack of shooting makes him one dimensional. His defense is improved and he's a good backup but he's still a backup and is unlikely to be more until he works on his shooting

Oso's statistical improvement comes from Ott's system first and his lack of big mistakes seconds. He doesn't shoot so his percentage is good and he makes good passes. Williams is a testament to how Ott wants bigs used and he's the best player on our team from an on/off offensive standpoint. Oso can't do what he does and luckily for Oso neither can Richards. Maluach is being brought along slowly so as long Oso doesn't crap the bed, he'll stick in the rotation. That's solid for a 2nd round pick but again, still a backup although his defense shows he's very coachable.

The idea of using Oso as a PF with Williams is awful. Teams could clog the paint far too easily. The only time they should see the floor together is odd times where we desperately need a board. I'd lean towards using Dunn instead because he's not as inept without the ball his hands on offense.

my man needs more confidence going to the rim - he's hesitated at times and when he does go he needs to go harder - i wanna see some aaron gordon action - i know oso is capable of it

I agree. I mean we are used to seeing it more consistently lately but last night he went away from contact and finishing with authority.

It's not just the shooting.

He is still not good driving to the basket, his rebounding is not up to snuff, especially his tendency to always tip the ball and never try and grab it, and yes his shooting - especially the free throw shooting.

His defense has been amazing though - that is by far the main reason to give him playing time.

He doesn't always have to go harder, he also needs to learn some finesse. If he would stop and throw up a hook sometimes or finish with his off hand on his drives to where the shot can't be blocked that would do wonders too.

He try's way to often to just beat centers to the rim instead of outsmarting them. Many are just to good for that - they made it to the NBA for a reason.

The limiting factor is his release point. Because it's so low he has to be basically WIDE open to shoot it, which severely limits his options.

Low and, more importantly, forward leaning which makes them easier to be blocked by NBA's quick jumpers. There is a reason people like to shoot falling back
