Say all you want about Mac being a good guy, the players wanting to play for Mac, coaches don't fumble the ball or throw picks, Rod Graves had a good draft, Rod Graves wasn't proactive enough, yada yada.

There is something lacking on this football team. I don't know if I can put it into words, but -

We lack a "program", an over all philosophy, the way we approach a game and get our players ready to operate within a system they know and feel comfortable with - so that they're not "winging it" all the time.

Yeah, winging it - I get the feeling that, on too many plays, our guys are "winging it" - i.e. (a) hoping (instead of knowing) that a play or defensive scheme will work, (b) given way too much latitude for free-lancing when it comes to both assignments and the proper execution of techniques and (c) not reminding our younger players to do such elemental things as cover up the ball and not throw into coverage.

A Vince Lombardi, Bill Parcells or Jimmy Johnson would have little or no tolerance for the kind of stuff we've seen the past two Sundays and they'd immediately pull out the old "my way or highway" handbook. I don't think our current coaching staff has the command presence or coaching confidence to do this, and they gotta.

Jeff,
I think you hit the nail on the head, This team is not disicplined enough to execute a gameplan. The level of performance expected from this coaching staff is not high enough to play at this level.

I guess if you put it in a nutshell this whole organization is not professional enough to win.
