Luckily for the Carolina Panthers, one of their latest injuries at training camp doesn't appear to be too serious.
On Tuesday, wideout Xavier Legette was carted off from the practice field during seven-on-seven drills. The third-year receiver took a hard fall onto his head and back when attempting to complete a catch in the end zone.
The initial update on Legette later that afternoon was an encouraging one, as head coach Dave Canales told reporters that the 25-year-old was cleared of a concussion. Canales followed up on that with even better news after his team's 33-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.
"No issues," he said of Legette's pre-game workout. "I talked to him, he said he feels great. He's back. So looking forward to getting back to practice on Sunday and getting those guys rolling."
Carolina has already seen two notable players go down this summer. First, it was second-year outside linebacker Nic Scourton—who tore his ACL in the very first session of camp. Then, it was rookie wideout Chris Brazzell II—who tore his LCL last week.
After two underwhelming seasons to begin his pro career, Legette is entering what could be a make-or-break campaign here in 2026. With Brazzell sidelined, he's likely to take up the third spot in the pecking order behind Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker.
