The thing is by Mikey allowing him to tank again it’s clear we have another full cycle left with Ossenfort. I kinda expected it, Bidwill hates firing GM’s but man this dude is worse than Graves or Keim.
The guy gets two tank seasons out of four. That’s amazing. Truly amazing.

I gave monti a long time - but this is too much of a failure. He can’t recruit at an nfl pro level. When we pick a QB in the top 3 next year- I want another GM doing it

I live close to Denver now - going to be tuning into broncos football more this season. I can’t give up this team completely - but I’m tuning out this team for 2026 unless they prove they are worth watching.

This is unheard of in basically any sport. Nobody gets a second cycle if the first is a total trainwreck. This is especially the case in the NFL which more than any sport is built for parity and quick turnarounds.

But Monti knows the rules to this particular game. The whole league does after Graves and Keim. Winning football games matters less than kissing the Bidwill ring. Stay in the good graces of the family and collect a decade of paychecks. Walk with $15-20mm and a lifetime of connections.

I think you need to come to grips with the reality that Monti and LaFleur are a package deal and probably get fired together. So think 4-5 years out.

I think regardless of how one felt about Willis, that would have at least been seen as trying.

Trying to get Garroppolo and failing, only to settle on Minshew of all people, on day freaking one of FA, is laughable. Minshew isn't even going to compete to start, it sounds like, and he broke his leg in week 16. It's a wet fart of a move, even compared to getting like... Kirk Cousins.

If we signed Minshew in April or May after the draft, whatever, but as a day one move... ouch.

And re-upping Conner, then signing Allgeier (who is decent but not exactly inspiring) and shutting the door completely on maybe the best player in the draft is pretty painful.

Like, we're going to take a mediocre guard/RT or an off-ball linebacker at 3? Oh boy.

Calling my shot. We take Caleb Downs either at 3 or a slight trade down later. Monti loves his DBs but this time he gets it right

Bro we’ve been throwing around names for WEEKS

Trey Lance
Zach Wilson
Anthony Richardson

All of these guys have considerably more upside potential than Gardner Minshew. That there isn’t an alternative to Jacoby Brissett who was 1-11 for this team and 1-4 with the Pats the year before is a clear tell for this franchises intention in 2026.

It’s just a damned shame that Mike LaFleur is going to have to start his head coaching tenure with a roster designed to be non-competitive.

Minch sucks, but at least he can throw the ball, which is more than I can say for Lance and Richardson.

Minch is the QB signing of a team that does not care about winning but wants the team to look somewhat competent while still almost certainly being terrible.

Richardson and Lance are the QBs signings of a team that are ran by complete imbeciles.

Y'all are high because we didn't massively overpay for a guy with less than 40 drop backs.

You all thought we were going to be slow and we brought in 5 guys on day 1.

Admit it, had we signed WIllis a bunch of you would be saying it was a great day. Willis is a bullet dodged. I can see why they tried to roll that dice on a shorter, cheaper deal but not for that money.

Avoiding a bad signing of Willis while signing Gardner Minshew as your back up to Brissett are mutually exclusive bad decisions. IMO, both would/will result in 5 wins.

But one of those options cost a lot less or am I missing the point.

Is it your money?
Simple ass response. Of course not but in case you haven't noticed our owner is very "frugal" so money pissed away limits what can be spent on other positions.
Of course that probably doesn't matter anyway because Monti has not proven to be good at.....anything so does any of this matter.

Since I became a fan in 2003, I’ve never seen this team just try and tank. Even when we were bad, you at least felt like they were trying.

This is just so disappointing and I feel for all the fans out there. We deserve better.

Chances are we will have the pick of the litter. just have to wait14 months to see who it is

if you are trying to measure the best bad decision...I guess that could be a factor, but why would you do that? Another povertyfranchise/loser mindset. (not you being the loser but franchise)

But they aren't spending the saved money, so what's the point? Willis and JG were obviously guys they wanted but didn't want to pay what was needed to get the job done. Now we signed 5 backup caliber players and really haven't improved the team one bit.
We've had about 80,000 QB posts and not one I can remember mentioned signing Minshew as a good thing or a possibility. But hey, they saved money.

My only guess is that it's like a hand in poker. You will bet a certain amount but if others throw too much in the pot then you fold and avoid a loss.
I can see Monti and MLF deciding that they needed a better backup than Slovenia and it would not surprise if they draft a QB at some point this year.
None of this gives me any hope that the Cards don’t suck again this year.
Still a lot of needs that Monti needs to address in FA.
