Going to cut the strikeouts way down for sure and ideally get the average up. He’s been a .221 hitter the last 3 years. Definitely a power threat so hopefully he adjusts into the lineup and can reap the benefits of Corbin and Ketel being on base.

Read two observations:

The Return of Mark Reynolds

Now we have Christian Walker at third (with worse defense).

Power bats, but strikes out a lot.

But seems to be a cheap trade

I like it! A 1-2 year stop gap while the kids develop. The Ks are a concern, but that power and 159 games played at 3B, 1400 innings and only 8 errors. Still need 2 starting pitchers and a 3rd OF starter.

8 errors in 1400 innings isn't Mark Renyolds. And he hits for a better average then Renyonlds did. The Ks are bad, but he's a stop gap for 1-2 years. Reynolds best defensive season at 3B was 18 errors in 126 games played at 3B.

Suarez Ks way too much and can barely hit his weight. Not impressed by this move. Hazen must be talking to MO Mozeliak in St. Louis for advice.

I love the return of Mark Reynolds. Cracked me up. Paul on 98.7 said the same thing.

I do think he is an above average glove though.

It's an upgrade for sure.

I love this move. They got a 2 war player for free.

.361 obp against lefties is exactly what we need

Sheesh he was a 3.9 WAR in 2022.

HRs since 2017

2017 26
2018 34
2019 49
2020 15 but in only 220 ABs. Carries out to over 40
2021 31
2022 31
2023 22

Basically bought for free on his only down year.

They gave up nothing for him. He will now be hitting in a hitters park, so I expect his homers will increase.
