Something strange happened during the NFL's annual schedule release event. The Indianapolis Colts released Minecraft-themed video to unveil their 17-game slate. It was fairly well received... then, it was gone.

This led to speculation. After all, the video cracked jokes at the expense of Kirk Cousins, the feud between Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz, Patrick Mahomes and Jacksonville Jaguars coach Liam Coen. But one brief clip at the start, which sees an annoyed dolphin version of Miami wide receiver Tyreek Hill get pulled over by the Coast Guard, seemed like the most obvious lightning rod for soft controversy in a league that's got nearly four months of time to burn before the actual season starts.

On Thursday, the Colts came out and said, yep, the Hill arrest was part of the reason the video came down -- along with the desire to avoid Microsoft's legal team.

Statement from the Colts: "We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek."

"We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek," read the statement first reported by Pro Football Talk.

While I don't have the data handy, I believe this is the first time an NFL franchise has had to apologize to a software company for releasing its schedule. So how bad were the offending clips? You can see for yourself.
