The Boston Celtics are NBA title favorites, but the Thunder still need to prove it

The Boston Celtics are favorites to win the 2025 NBA title, but the Oklahoma City Thunder still need to prove they are legitimate contenders. Or at least that is the point of view held by Boston beat writer emeritus Bob Ryan on a recent episode of the semi-eponymous CLNS Media "Bob Ryan, Jeff Goodman, and Gary Tanguay!" podcast.

For Ryan, Boston is and should be title favorites, simply because they have already shown the maturity and focus needed to climb the mountain and hang the banner. But for as amazing of a regular season as the Thunder have had so far, the postseason is an entirely different animal -- and Ryan has reason to believe that matters for OKC's bona fides when it comes to contention.
