Good luck to James.

I think he is going to surprise some people when he is not the #1 focus of the opposing defense.

He'll be someone's nice role player. He'll run an offense coming off the bench regardless what position he ends up playing. He might even start for a team like the Clippers or the Kings.

^You mean in his rookie year or you see him capping out as a role player?

I don't think James will be a perennial All Star or a franchise type player, but I think he could be a lesser Paul Pierce type. A good 2nd or 3rd option on a top team. Sort of a similar level of success to Richard Jefferson (though he'll be at the 2 not the 3).

Anyway, thanks James, it was great watching you. You meant the world to the Sun Devils and I hope in 10 years we can look back at you as our Sean Elliot, the guy who started a nice run.

Paul Pierce has quite a bit more athleticism and Richard Jefferson used to be among the most physically gifted at his position. James is sub-par in that category. I can't seem him as a starter on a good team. Like I've said in other threads, he's like a shorter, poor man's version of Joe Johnson.

Right sorry, I guess I was unclear. I didn't mean his game was like theres, or his athleticism, I just meant their success level if that makes sense. I think James might make an All Star game or two in career but thats about it. Sort of like Mike Bibby, never an All Star, but one of the better players in that next group/level.

He'll be alright. Not a superstar, but he should be able to catch on to some NBA team and get minutes.

Paul Pierce is an NBA HOFer, so Harden will be a lesser version of an NBA HOFer? That's predicting a pretty good career.

I wouldnt vote for Pierce for the HOF. Hall of Fame players are the main guy on winning teams, thats something Pierce has never been. Sure he won an NBA title, but it was when he was playing second fiddle to KG and had a terrific 3rd banana on his team in Ray Allen.

So.....the guy who won the Finals MVP wasn't the "main guy" of the team? Or maybe it's just that the guy who lead the team in games, minutes played, free throws, and points isn't the main guy.

If you think Finals MVP determines who the main cog on a team is, you're crazy. Much of the time the teams best player wins the award, but sometimes, thats not the case. I.E. in 2007 Tony Parker won the award, but no one would say he's the more important Spur than Duncan.

Paul Pierce is a great 2nd banana. When he was the main guy, his teams were never great.

Take away KG away from last years Celtics, versus take away Pierce, which team would be better? I'll take the team with KG, not the team with Pierce. KG was the most important guy on the Celtics last year.

Certainly, but that with leading the team in all of those catagories takes away from the "had a good tournament" argument.

Paul Pierce is a great 2nd banana. When he was the main guy, his teams went nowhere fast.

This argument falls apart and even a cursory glace at the Minnesota Timberwolves. Weak sauce.

This is pure speculation, and has nothing to do with the argument of Pierce being a HOFer. By your logic, only the "main guy" on a team can be the HOF player. Either it was Magic or Kareem, Jordan or Pippen, O'neal or Bryant.

Leading your team in games and minutes played isn't really something I look at when determining a HOF guy. Those sorts of stats are functions of your team mates health, and your teams depth at the various positions.

No it doesn't at all actually. KG was surrounded by NOTHING on a lot of those T'wolves teams. The ones in which he did have some quality team mates, they did well until running into a ridiculously stacked Lakers squad.

Not at all, I never said nor implied that only one guy on a team can be a HOF player. My point is, a Finals MVP does not a HOF player make. Paul Pierce is a multi time All Star and a terrific player, just not a HOF type to me. He's in that next class below.

But hey, you're a Jayhawk and so is he, no one expects you to be objective.

Pierce is a HOF lock. Jesus Shuttlesworth is the toss-up.

Pierce's career as a whole (1st team NCAA AA, McDonald's AA, 7 AS Games, NBA Title, NBA FInals MVP) at the age of 31 gets him to lock status if he stays healthy 3-4 more years. He was probably in no matter what had Arizona's '97 team cost him the NCAA Championship.

Holy cow, brain fart, I forgot it was not the NBA HOF, but rather the basketball HOF. In that case, yah, I think Pierce will probably get in.

Thank you James Hardin. Whether gangsta Pierce makes the HOF has no place in this thread.
