Texas softball wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of Kentucky this past weekend in Austin, strengthening its spot in the national polls as well as in the NCAA's RPI rankings

The Longhorns (45-9, 16-8 SEC) moved up two spots in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll and remained at No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll.

More importantly for its postseason path, Texas moved up two spots to No. 7 in the NCAA's RPI rankings, a metric heavily used by the NCAA Selection Committee when seeding the NCAA Tournament field in May. Only the top eight seeds will host a super-regional series.

Texas will compete in the SEC Tournament this week in Athens, Ga. The Longhorns earned the third seed and will start play in Thursday's quarterfinals.
