Texas softball won another hard-fought series in the SEC Sunday, this time over Missouri.
As a result, the Longhorns (37-3, 10-2 SEC) remain atop both the SEC standings as well as the national polls entering a brutal mid-conference stretch against fellow top-10 teams Tennessee on March April 11-13 and LSU on April 17-19. Both those series will take place at McCombs Field in Austin.
In the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, Texas claimed 30 of the 31 first-place votes whole garnering 774 points. Oklahoma is a distant second with 737 points, while Texas A&M, Oregon and LSU round out the top five.
Just like last week, the Aggies were the only other team to pick up a first-place vote in the NFCA poll.
In the ESPN/USA Softball poll, Texas received all 25 of the first-place votes to stay ahead of No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Oregon and No. 5 Tennessee.
In a testament to the strength of the SEC, eight of the top 11 teams in the poll come from the conference. Overall, the SEC has 12 teams in the ESPN/USA Softball poll.
