After starting the 2026 campaign with a 15-1 record, Texas A&M baseball will open Southeastern Conference play against the Oklahoma Sooners, with Game 1 set for 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday in Norman.

The Aggiesenter the weekend ranked eighth in the nation and third in the league with a .344 batting average, but the Sooners bring an extremely talented pitching staff that boasts a 2.96 ERA through 17 games played so far. Oklahoma's bullpen includes right-hander LJ Mercurius, who ranks first in the SEC with a 0.39 ERA and 34 strikeouts in four appearances on the mound.

While Texas A&M is slated to face Mercurius on Saturday, Game 1 will feature a lefty-versus-lefty battle, as Cameron Jones takes the bump for the Sooners and Shane Sdao for the Aggies. Jones has a 5.21 ERA and 19 strikeouts with just four walks in 19.0 innings pitched and Sdao brings a 2.49 ERA with 25 strikeouts and a 3-0 record to Norman.

Junior right fielder Caden Sorrell has made a massive impact in the Aggies' lineup, hitting .407 with 28 RBI (tied for third in SEC) and eight home runs (tied for fourth in SEC).

Texas A&M and Oklahoma are tied at 34 apiece in the all-time series between the programs. The last time the two clubs squared off was at the 2022 College World Series, in which the Sooners defeated the Aggies 13-8 and 5-1 in Omaha, Nebraska. This weekend's series marks the first time the two teams have faced off in Norman since 2011.
