Texas A&M baseball will close out the regular season against Mississippi State in a high-stakes SEC affair at Blue Bell Park beginning Thursday night.
The Aggies have experienced an influx of injuries in recent weeks, including starting infielders Nico Partida and Boston Kellner. Texas A&M received some good news in today's availability report, as Partida was listed as a game-time decision and Kellner was removed from the report completely. Michael Earley also announced the absence of starting pitcher Aiden Sims, who is experiencing some tightness. The Bulldogs remain completely healthy with all players available for the series against the Aggies.
Clemson transfer Ethan Darden makes his second straight start in the series opener for Texas A&M. Darden allowed two hits, two walks and two earned runs, while recording two strikeouts in a 5-3 loss to Ole Miss in Game 1 last Friday. He boasts a 4-1 record with 20 strikeouts this season, but he must be sharp against State's lineup, which ranks second in the SEC with a .313 batting average. Meanwhile, left-handed pitcher Tomas Valincius, who is third in the conference with a 2.52 ERA, will start for the Bulldogs.
