No. 24 Texas A&M is off to a 4-0 start in non-conference play after sweeping Tennessee Tech last weekend, while Tuesday's primetime matchup vs. A&M Corpus-Christi ended in an 8-2 victory, led by the freshmen trio of Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Jorian Wilson, hitting home runs to lead the Aggies past the the visiting Islanders to stay undefeated.

While the Aggies' roster has stayed healthy throughout the offseason, Maryland transfer Chris Hacopian has missed the last two games after recording four hits and four RBI while hitting .444 during his first two starts. Second-year head coach Michael Earley provided a brief explanation for his absence during the final game of the Opening Weekend series, stating that an "illness" resulted in the junior being sidelined.

However, after missing Tuesday's game with a day of rest and recovery in between, Earley provided a more in-depth explanation of Hacopian's health status heading into this weekend's home series vs. Penn, revealing that, in addition to his apparent illness, Hacopian was also dealing with a back issue.

"He is fine. We said he wasn’t feeling right. Then it turned into, 'Chris is sick.' ... He had a little bit of stiff back. ... It’s precautionary. Tomorrow, we will see. He is going to be OK.”

Cryptic? Yes. Still, the fact that Earley says Hacopian will be "OK" likely means that, even if he misses Friday's game, his return will be day-to-day, while rushing him back before he's 100% would not be a good idea.

Texas A&M will face Penn for a three-game series starting on Friday, February 20, at 6:00 p.m. The game will air on the SEC Network.
