Texas A&M baseball suffered its second non-conference loss of the season in a 9-8 result at Texas State on Tuesday night.

Through two innings, the Aggies established a 3-0 lead over the Bobcats via clutch RBI from Caden Sorrell, Jake Duer and a solo home run from Gavin Grahovac. Texas State came charging back, however, as they scored six runs through the next two frames to take a 6-3 lead over Texas A&M entering the fourth.

Boston Kellner's two-run homer in the fourth sparked a comeback for the Aggies, as the Maroon and White entered the seventh inning with a 7-6 advantage over the Bobcats, but an RBI double from Ethan Farris and Jaquae Stewart's two-RBI single helped Texas State reclaim the lead and hand Texas A&M its first non-conference loss since the 11-1 (7 inn.) result against No. 1 UCLA on Feb. 28.

Final: Aggies - 8, Bobcats - 9

The Aggie bullpen's lackluster performance was the catalyst for a tough midweek loss to the Bobcats. Texas A&M was forced to burn five arms, including starter Cole Hubert, who allowed four hits and three earned runs in 2.0 innings on the mound. Grant Cunnigham and Ethan Darden combined for eight strikeouts, but Texas State secured 13 hits and nine runs to end the Aggies' non-conference win streak abruptly.

Texas A&M's depth in the pitching rotation continues to be a massive concern, as the Aggies prepare for another weekend of conference play. After securing a 2-1 series win over the Vanderbilt Commodores over Easter weekend, the Maroon and White are set for a massive series against in-state rival Texas at Blue Bell Park beginning Friday.

The Lone Star Showdown's Game 1 will begin at 7 p.m. CT on April 10 and broadcast live on the SEC Network, followed by Game 2 at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday on ESPN2 and the series finale at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday on SEC Network+.
