It was another tough night on the mound for Texas A&M, as the Aggies gave up 13 hits in a 9-8 loss against the Texas State Bobcats on Tuesday night.
The struggles continued for an already depleted bullpen against the Bobcats' lineup. Cole Hubert got the start for Texas A&M, but allowed four hits and three earned runs in just 2.0 innings pitched. The Aggies called on five total pitchers to try to halt Texas State's lineup in the program's second non-conference loss of 2026. Grant Cunningham and Ethan Darden combined for eight strikeouts in the effort, but the lack of depth at pitcher is something Texas A&M has not been able to shake so far this season.
While the pitching rotation struggled, the Aggie lineup thrived. Gavin Grahovac notched his ninth home run of the season and Boston Kellner went yard with a two-run shot against the Bobcats. Texas A&M's 10 hits and eight runs were not enough to remain undefeated in midweek contests, as the Aggies suffered a brutal one-run loss ahead of an integral Lone Star Showdown against the Texas Longhorns at Blue Bell Park this weekend.

Texas A&M drops its first midweek contest of the season to Texas State on Tuesday night
Aggies drop their first midweek game of the year on the road in San Marcos.
Bobcats won the game with 2-out hitting. They got the big swings with men on, and their bullpen did enough late to hold on.
A&M strands 10 runners and has some uncharacteristic defensive miscues early. https://t.co/WqTimy69pf
