Both the Steelers and Texans updated their availability reports on Sunday ahead of Monday night’s Wild Card matchup.

Houston’s update was small but potentially significant: The team will be traveling without backup quarterback Davis Mills (personal issue), leaving starter C.J. Stroud and third-stringer Graham Mertz as the only remaining quarterbacks on the Texans roster.

If Stroud plays the entire game, Mills’ absence shouldn’t affect the team much. However, Mills is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league, with six game appearances, 915 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception in the 2025 season alone. He’s gone 3-0 as a starter in replacement of Stroud this season and has proven to be valuable depth.

If Stroud goes down against the Steelers, the Texans will turn to Mertz, a rookie sixth-rounder who has yet to appear in a regular season NFL game.

Texans cornerback Ajani Carter (hamstring) was also ruled out on Sunday with a hamstring injury. Previously, he had been listed as questionable.

Loudermilk’s 21-day return window from injured reserve was opened earlier last week; the Steelers’ 53-man roster is currently fully healthy ahead of the playoffs.
