The Terrion Arnold situation is obviously very fluid and far from resolved at this point. But the Detroit Lions cornerback’s arrest on Wednesday night was certainly newsworthy, and there’s a lot to weed through with this case that has spanned back to February.
So on Thursday morning, Ryan Mathews and I got together to run down the entire story. We break down the entire timeline of events, talk about the available public evidence, and share statements from both Arnold’s camp and the investigators on hand in Florida.
Then we discuss the implications as Lions fan. Obviously, no guilt has been proven in Arnold’s case, but as a player who was drafted with such high regard, it’s hard not to be significantly disheartened by these current developments. Ryan and I discuss trying to cope with the potential of Arnold not ever playing a down again for the Lions.
After a long discussion about the human side of the story, we eventually talk about the football side of the business. Where does the Lions’ cornerback room stand right now? What kind of internal options does the team have? Do they need to make a move now, and if so, who is someone they should seriously consider?
We discuss a potential trade for Denzel Ward and free agency options like Trevon Diggs, Kenny Moore, Marshon Lattimore, Rasul Douglas, and Tre’Davious White.
