Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been arrested and reportedly will be charged in connection with allegations stemming from "a February robbery and kidnapping in Tampa," per the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office on Wednesday evening.
"Arnold is facing multiple felony charges which carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison," a social media message from the county read.
Arnold had previously denied involvement in the incident in what has previously been alleged as a "revenge crime" in Florida involving some of Arnold's alleged associates, according to USA TODAY.
"The revenge crime is alleged to be in retaliation for two robberies that occurred at an Airbnb that Arnold was renting in Largo. Arnold estimated he had more than $250,000 in cash and goods stolen from the house he had rented from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1," USA TODAY's Jacob Camenker reported in May.
"Arnold did not report the property stolen until 9:05 p.m. ET on Feb. 3, days after the robberies occurred, because he wasn't initially aware anything had been stolen. He also declined to press charges in the larceny of his stolen goods, which included $100,000 in cash he had set aside to gamble at a local casino. Arnold did accuse a driver he had hired for the vacation – Yan Lopez – of being involved in the theft and vowed to sue him. Lopez was among three men who prosecutors alleged Boakai Hilton, who Arnold called 'my childhood best friend' in a recorded interview with police, robbed and beat in a case of street justice."
His attorney released a statement in which Arnold denied all wrongdoing.
"I feel like the situation's being handled," Arnold said, per USA TODAY. "I'm here to support the kids and my mindset is being the best player I can be for my team. I've had surgery now, I'm on pace to make a full recovery and I'm just working on trying to be the best teammate I can be for my teammates and get ready for a big year this year."
Yes; they issued a statement following word of the arrest.
