According to NFL.com he's 24, turns 25 in September.

He redshirted at K State so he was there 5 years. 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998. Count backwards 24,23,22,21,20 still makes him 19 out of HS turning 20 in September of his redshirt year which seems old I was 17 out of HS.

Remarkable athlete though.

The last rookie who came in the league over the age of 25 was Mike Anderson (27 years old), who was Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2000.

He repeated second grade and redshirted his freshman year.
That didn't seem to affect his play on Roy Williams, Rashaun Woods, Justin Gage and Kareem Kelly.

Thanks Russ.

Makes you wonder! Suggs is a junior and coming out at 20 even if he stayed in college and had a redshirted year thrown in he would still come out at 22!

THATS STRANGE to me!!!

What in the hell does being 25 have to do with anything?

Didn't Mike Anderson serve in the Marines for a couple of years?
That would explain his age as a rookie.

I am not sure either. I dont buy into the 40 times garbage and I certainly dont buy into because he is 24, almost 25 that it is a bad thing. In fact he is probably more mature than most players.

Besides 25-28 are peek years in the NFL (unless your a QB then its 39-44 ha!)

I dont want to take Newman at 6 but not because he is 25 yrs old

He was indeed.

I'm not sure if Newman went straight to college from high school.

This thread is ********.

That coming from the king of ******** THREADS!

LVCARDFREAK is exactly right many CBs hit there prime in the NFL at around 25 to 30 but they have usually been in the league playing against NFL caliber competition for a few of years already by that age.

So by that standard Newman shouldnt hit his prime until hes almost 30 and getting ready to lose a step already!

Sorry but for draft purposes the dude is old!

If you want a CB take Trufant!

The only issue I have with terrance newman is that did he benefit by playing younger competition..if suggs, trufant, robertson, andre johnson, etc.. if the players he played against were 25 - how would have had played..

Regarding, newman...his workout times were superior..which to me means he is the real deal - regardless of age..

Ya know, a whole bunch of NFL All Pros....

Kidding ;). But the way I look at corners....unless the really knock my socks off, I won't draft one high and pay huge money to. Corners come to the NFL and struggle quite a bit as rookies.

And the age factor for Newman is a big deal imo. He will lose his speed quite a bit as he gets older, which at 25 (he will be 25 at the beginning of the year) He'll have 3-4 less good years .
