The NCAA transfer portal opened Wednesday and will remain open through April 25.

A second Tennessee player entered the transfer portal Wednesday after redshirt sophomore quarterback Nico Iamaleava transferred to UCLA.

Following Iamaleava's departure, Tennessee junior defensive back John Slaughter is expected to also enter the NCAA transfer portal.

"Tennessee DB John Slaughter plans to enter the transfer portal, he tells On3," Hayes Fawcett of On3 announced.

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound defensive back appeared in 23 games for the Vols from 2023-24. He recorded six tackles, 0.5 tackles for a loss, one interception and pass deflection.

Slaughter is from Southaven High School in Southaven, Mississippi.

He was offered a scholarship by the Vols on June 16, 2021. He committed to Tennessee on June 25, 2022.

Tennessee concluded spring practices on April 12 with its annual Orange & White Game. The Vols will kick off their 2025 football season on Aug. 30 versus Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
