No. 15 Tennessee (4-0) defeated UNC Asheville (2-3), 10-3, on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Six players pitched for the Vols in the nonconference matchup.

Two-way player and Rice transfer Blaine Brown made his pitching debut for Tennessee. He started and pitched one inning. Brown totaled three strikeouts and 16 pitches, including 10 strikes, against three batters. The left-handed pitcher did not allow a hit, run or walk against the Bulldogs.

Freshman left-handed pitcher Cam Appenzeller (1-0) earned his first win of the season after relieving Brown in the second inning. He pitched four innings, recording four strikeouts and 56 pitches (34 strikes) against 15 batters.

Duke left-handed transfer Mark Hindy, freshman right-handed pitcher Ethan Baiotto, freshman two-way player Taylor Tracey and ETSU right-handed transfer Brady Frederick also pitched one inning each in relief for the Vols.

Baiotto and Tracey totaled two strikeouts each, while Appenzeller (two) and Tracey (one) allowed earned runs to UNC Asheville.

Tennessee's pitchers totaled 130 pitches, including 78 strikes, against 34 batters. UNC Asheville recorded five hits, including two doubles. The Bulldogs hit nine groundouts, six flyouts and hit into one double play.
