Tarik Skubal watch is officially on.

After the Detroit Tigers ace gave up three runs on four hits across 6⅔ innings with six strikeouts against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, July 29, all attention turns to one question: Did he just pitch his final game at Comerica Park?

MLB's Aug. 3 trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and Skubal is the biggest name on the market. While the left-hander has said he doesn't want to go anywhere, if the Tigers decide they are not ready to compete for the postseason, it would be wise to get the largest haul possible for the pending free agent.

So what's the latest on the hot stove? We will track what's going on around Skubal, the Tigers and the rest of MLB here.

Look out for the Brewers?

MLB analyst Jim Bowden has a smaller-market team at the top of Skubal sweepstakes: the Milwaukee Brewers.

While Bowden acknowledges the big-spending Dodgers are in the mix, as well, he sees the Brewers as the "most likely landing spot."

The Brewers are in on Tarik Skubal, @JimBowdenGM reports.

"I think the Brewers are the most likely landing spot. I'll rank them number one, then the Dodgers, Braves, and Rays, in that order." pic.twitter.com/U3MGIlH7Gf

Dodgers on the hunt?

03:27 PM ET, July 29 2026
MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports one team is getting increasingly interested in Skubal ... and it's the exact team you would expect.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are circling the waters as they look to amp up their pitching for yet another World Series run, especially with Shohei Ohtani dealing with health issues on the mound.

The Dodgers’ interest in Tarik Skubal has increased due to questions surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s availability to pitch, as I reported on @MLBNetwork earlier.

Yet it is unlikely the Tigers could obtain OF prospect Josue De Paula as the headliner in a multi-player package.

Skubal collects strikeout No. 1,000

03:21 PM ET, July 29 2026, Jared Ramsey
Skubal had a milestone waiting for him Wednesday, and he wasted no time. In the first at-bat of the game, he got Orioles left fielder Taylor Ward to chase his signature changeup below the zone for his 1,000th career punchout.

The Comerica Park crowd rose to its feet to give the ace a standing ovation. After the Tigers infield went around the horn with the ball after the strikeout, Skubal took off his cap and waved to the crowd in appreciation while the scoreboard flashed his accomplishment.
