One of LSU baseball's top signees announced his intention to attend LSU, removing his name from the MLB Draft. Left-handed pitcher Braxton Beaty is slated to be a Tiger. The Texas product took to social media to make the announcement on Thursday.

Beaty is a top-500 prospect in the 2026 Draft Class. He wasn't projected to be picked in the first few rounds, but he was a prime candidate for the midrounds. Beaty is talented and was on the radar of MLB scouts.

Beaty missed his junior year of high school after undergoing Tommy John surgery. As a senior, he returned without missing a beat. Still, the recent injury makes college more enticing. Beaty can boost his stock at LSU and enter the draft a few years removed from the surgery.

Beaty throws a strong fastball/slider combo. That pitch mix plays well in this era of baseball. Beaty throws with velocity and controls the baseball -- a rare blend of skills at the high school level. If Beaty is fully healthy, he can contribute as a freshman in 2027.

Braxton Beaty (‘26) was (literally) unhittable tonight. 4 hitless frames, punching out 11. FB 90-92 T93 with deception. Wipeout SL at 77-79. Good feel for CH at 81-83. Super consistent performer with quality pitchability. No. 222 on the @PG_Draft board.#GeauxTigers commit… pic.twitter.com/OfMEhvrCPe
