There's a reason these types of guys are on a team but not long term. They show flashes and nothing consistent.
Guys like these often have the skills and ability, but they wilt once they finally feel the pressure of being an expected contributor.

Converting Bouyea to a standard NBA contract seemed like a lock a few weeks back. Now, I'm not so sure.
I don't think it's entirely his fault. When he looked good he was getting consistent time. It's been real spotty to say the least. None of these trades or signings moves the needle IMO or addressed their biggest need. From what they were talking about on the radio, these moves were meant to shore up their culture. Great. Culture is only going to take you so far. Sooner or later you have to fill the gaps.

ye hasn't been the same since the concussion- that's when the clear drop in play happened - came back and hasn't been the same since - could be brain fog but the concussion and the subpar are on the same timeline

Also, I might add here, Bouyea has never been quite the same after missing about seven games due to a concussion.

I'm on the fence about Bouyea. There is the matter of the concussion and he has never gotten back into the flow of the game. For me, it's the Suns need a 4/5 more.

Highsmith MIGHT be a reasonable low cost replacement for O'Neal (but honestly, I'd rather the Suns invest in Fleming for this), but definitely not for Allen. Allen has been crucial as one more creator off the dribble given injury issues with Book and Green.

The Suns are a better team when Allen plays. Let's hope he returns healthy. Fleming would be nice rotation depth. I think he will push someone aside when ready but it may not be this season. With the CBA, trading a player with few assets, is easier said than done.

Haywood Highsmith is still a few weeks away from being able to play in an NBA game. His signing was more about next year then this year which is why the two-year contract. Still possible he could help this year but not anytime soon.

This may help explain why the Suns were able to sign Highsmith.

Other teams may have been looking at the now, while the Suns were not rushing it, and thinking about the future.

Two years on a veteran's minimum deal. Plus this year's version is vet minimum prorarted for only 29 games. So he fits under our luxury situation.

Sooner or later? It’s been half a season.

Building more culture. Bringing in a blueprint of Miami culture.

The Heat are definitely a team to emulate when it comes to being well coached, playing hard and finding players that are hidden gems.

Gambo has been saying this is really a move for next year. I heard a podcast and we have the option on next year's contract for Haywood which isn't guaranteed. So it's a super low risk move for us.
