Converting Bouyea to a standard NBA contract seemed like a lock a few weeks back. Now, I'm not so sure.
There's a reason these types of guys are on a team but not long term. They show flashes and nothing consistent.

Guys like these often have the skills and ability, but they wilt once they finally feel the pressure of being an expected contributor. There's a reason these types of guys are on a team but not long term. They show flashes and nothing consistent.
I don't think it's entirely his fault. When he looked good he was getting consistent time. It's been real spotty to say the least. None of these trades or signings moves the needle IMO or addressed their biggest need. From what they were talking about on the radio, these moves were meant to shore up their culture. Great. Culture is only going to take you so far. Sooner or later you have to fill the gaps.Converting Bouyea to a standard NBA contract seemed like a lock a few weeks back. Now, I'm not so sure.

Highsmith MIGHT be a reasonable low cost replacement for O'Neal (but honestly, I'd rather the Suns invest in Fleming for this), but definitely not for Allen. Allen has been crucial as one more creator off the dribble given injury issues with Book and Green.Arizona Sports talk about the philosophy of adding Highsmith.

Gambo has been saying this is really a move for next year. I heard a podcast and we have the option on next year's contract for Haywood which isn't guaranteed. So it's a super low risk move for us.PHNX Suns
