nothing like a good book - amirite - after his 13 point first quarter they gave grayson the devin booker business - being obnoxiously bumped off ball - double teamed - all 5 guys trying to stop him from getting the ball

grayson did what he could and had a great game - it would have been bad without him but he can't do everything book does like getting teams into foul trouble early in the 4th quarter

these last two losses are understandable but hurt even worse knowing we were in a position to win both road games against quality ball clubs - and idk if book will be back against the knicks - we don't want a nagging ankle injury

Is everyone ready to concede that Grayson Allen is too valuable to trade?
absolutely. there was some grumbling about him last season that i thought was misplaced, but him and Collin were the only 2 i wouldn't have considered trading in the offseason. I felt Dunn was overrated because of his weak offense.

what i saw all along in Allen, besides his 3, was his effort and IQ. He does it all. Can handle the ball, drive, be clutch, etc.. His type can always contribute something. Same with Collin.

most of all, our role players now are our defensive strength and we are winning because of it. So, no. I'm not up for trading any parts that constitute our defensive and clutch performance core, of which, Allen is a part.

last night's first quarter was Allen at his finest. doing everything well. including amazing defense. And that forcing the ball out of bounds off of ? at the end of the prior game was a smart move only him and Brooks would have had the instincts to attempt.

Allen is actually a bad defender? I'm listening. I understood that he is no great defender but one of those archetypal "pests" on defense who tries to annoy his opponent and might play dirty. A Dillon Brooks without the noise and stupidity and with a much better three-point shot.

As for his getting tired...if he did, he did. He played so much only because there was hardly anyone else available. I don't ask for him to start or play that many minutes.

Watch the games. Team that move ball deliberately target Grayson on D. He can't stay in front of his man and is slow on switches also. He is a complimentary piece, ultimately. He'll have the occasional offensive outpouring but he can't do it regularly. He's kind of a like a modern Rex Chapman.

He did have a reputation when he came here but it was for cheap shots more than chippy defense like Dillon Brooks.

This is a problem, but it will be most easily solved by Green and Booker playing so that Allen won't have to start when he's not really good enough to start and play starter's minutes.

Even if Allen weren't the best sharpshooter on the team, he might or might not be important to the strong chemistry of the team. I don't much want to find out the hard way. I wish someone would ask teammates, esp. Booker, what they think of the prospect of losing Allen.

More generally, I do not care to risk messing with the chemistry by bringing in any new player via trade. Any trade is both an addition to the chemistry and a subtraction. I have no idea how stable or unstable it is. I'd rather just activate Green and see how much better he makes the team.
