I think you always have guys at the end of the bench that don't get any minutes. I'd keep Bol Bol just for that walk on the court factor when the other teams look at your team and go, "Damn, those guys are tall!" LOL

Richards at 5M for some 2nds and trade exceptions, umm no. You keep Richards behind Williams and Malauch.
I can see the argument both ways. We know Williams will miss time. You need that third center. On the other hand we NEED to get under that second apron. I'd be fine keeping him if other trades and cuts do the job.

What do you think Oso is? He will never get in a game as a 4th stringer.

i wish marion would help oso out with that shot

Marion's shot was pretty compared to Oso's shot.

Hopefully Ott and the assistant coaches can change it or teach him some more inside moves.

Brendon Kleen just reported on his podcast, the Suns can get under the second apron by $2 million just by cutting Richards and Martin. Of course they can use those two in trades to get players/picks back, like they did with Micic since the other team can just cut them and not take on salary. There's some little options there.

I wonder if new defensive enforcer Dillon Brooks has had any notable success guarding Shai (sp?) Gilgeous-Alexander. Might he be the Shai Stopper?

Certainly, he is the Phoenix Suns' most aggressive personality since Raja Bell.

That's the easiest way to duck under the apron and they have 2 days to make it happen so unless the can conjure up some cap lowering trades those 2 players will be cut. It would be great to at least get some trade exceptions and 2nd rounders.

It is very hard for any guy to keep him in front of them. When you have seven footers behind you, it gets a bit easier.

We don't have to wait long. If they can't get anything, they probably just cut both. I know there's a time limit for us to resign them, so basically neither guy is likely to be a Sun again.

I honestly don't seek to nitpick when I say: that statement used so many pronouns that I couldn't understand it. Eventually I concluded that you simply meant Gilgeous-Alexander is unguardable. If Brooks can only make Gilgeous-Alexander waste shots and work for his points, like how Raja Bell defended Kobe Bryant, so be it.

I'd hate to cut Richards for nothing.

I have heard that the Suns could also trade Grayson Allen or Royce O'Neal. I absolutely oppose trading O'Neal, because he supposedly is a player who typically gets assigned to guard the opponent's best player. Why would I want to trade such a reliable defender? I don't really want to trade either of them, especially because it was just pointed out that dropping below the second apron doesn't require trading Allen or O'Neal; but if I had to trade one: Allen makes more money, is much shorter than O'Neal, and plays a position that is currently glutted.

I'll tell who I would like to trade: Jalen Green. I think the Suns didn't want him in the first place, but had to take him as the price for unloading Durant. But with such a contract, I don't suppose any other team wants Green.

The Suns knew they were getting Green in a trade with Houston. It was leaked the Suns called around different teams seeing if they could flip Green. Then when the trade went down, the Suns said they wanted to keep him to play with Booker. It made it sound like the Suns are putting a nice spin to the trade to eventually up Green's value. To be fair, Green does fit the profile of the type of player the Suns want. It's just a loaded team with shooting guards right now.

Agree. That's kind of the bitter pill in all of this (still having Beal aside). From all analyses, Green is a) overpaid, b) a net negative on the court, and c) absurdly redundant with Booker (and Beal, if we can't move him).

Unless they can somehow flip him for value, or he can (improbably) remake his entire game, Green was really more like subtraction by addition.

Winner: Phoenix Suns

The Suns got the No. 3 player on my board with the No. 10 pick. Khaman Maluach should be an effective player just with his length (7’6 wingspan), mobility, and interior finishing. If his three-point shot comes around, and I think it will, watch out. This is the type of high-upside swing Phoenix needed to save the Devin Booker era. The Suns also acquired Mark Williams, the super long Duke center who reached the Final Four before Maluach did it, and they really didn’t give up much with a protected 2029 pick that’s the least favorite of three teams. Williams can soak up minutes early while Maluach develops, and I’m intrigued with potential lineups featuring both of them. Phoenix also landed a gem in the second round in Rasheer Flemming out of St. Joe’s. Flemming is long, strong, and can hit spot-up threes. I’m a bit worried about his feet for the game and lack of athleticism, but it’s a great value in early round two. I thought the Suns were staring down a dead-end after the Kevin Durant trade. Maybe not anymore.
