Not locked on. You seem locked on him.

It's just his salary is non-guaranteed, which means the suns can waive him with no consequence or dead money to their cap. His salary is needed with the other two to make it worthwhile. It's as easy as that. Getting under the second apron for a KD trade.

And those draft picks were thrown away for nothing for a player who can be kept for $5 million?

I'd be looking at other options first, not the easiest one.

They traded Josh Okogie and three second round picks (essentially two) for Nick Richards.

The Suns need to start valuing assets.

I like Cody Martin as a player. Heck, he was at UNR when I was up there in Northern Nevada. I have a fond spot in my heart for him and his brother. He's the kind of guy you need on a Championship level team to play defense and do the little things and hit the occasional three pointer. I would argue he's not needed here yet since we will not be on that level next season. Richards, at best people are saying he projects as a back up. I know a lot of fans want to keep both those guys, but getting under the second apron before a KD trade, I would argue serves us better at the moment. Micic didn't even take a shot when he played. Micic was just looking at us waiving him so he can sign for much more money in Europe.

I really think the Suns will make some moves soon to address the cap situation. They are too busy looking for a coach. Evidently our front office can only do one thing at a time. LOL!

So if we get under the second apron, we could do a multi team trade and could aggregate multiple players in a trade going out. That would get us players and picks back. If we keep the two picks in the draft coming up, there's two more players. We would still have Beal, too if we were patient and didn't use assets to farm him out. Depending on who we get in return on a KD trade, this team could be entertaining.
Might not want this owner dealing with more then one team in a trade . I'm still the only one that wants to unload Booker and wait tell next year to deal with Durant and Beal.

I'm leaning towards Johnnie Bryant especially since the Suns are intent on keeping Devin Booker.

He forged a strong relationship with Donovan Mitchell in Cleveland and they can hopefully put the right team around him in Phoenix.

Me too although I don't feel all that confident about any of them, one way or the other. So, I find myself hoping our front office has recently undergone a successful brain transplant and that this hiring will reflect it.

And I was working on the rights to a potential franchise swap with Las Vegas, but I guess that is not going to happen.

That seems a bit awkward, interviewing two assistant coaches from the same team for the job.

I'm a bit concerned about the Michigan State connection with Jordan Ott.

if book is indeed involved in the process i'm guessing he'd go with the proven player's coach (bryant) -

I REALLY don’t like the fact that Ott has Michigan State ties, but the one thing that makes me feel a little better is that he was also a finalist for the Charlotte job, so other teams have valued him as a future head coach as well. With that being said, Bryant has been on the top of my list since the beginning, so that is who I am hoping for.

I agree 100%. I'm pulling for Bryant and have read more about him. He could help Booker in the same way he did Mitchell in accepting a leadership role. Of course that didn't go great in Cleveland but their playoff woes don't fall at Mitchell's feet only.

Here is some background on Johnnie Bryant and Jordan Ott.

Regarding Ott, so you're telling me that both he and his wife are named Jordan? Weird!

Coach is married to his wife, Jordan.

Duane Rankin gives a breakdown on the final two candidates for the Suns head coaching position.

Connecting with players seems to be the big plus for Bryant. Ott has studied video, strong in player development and fits the description as a grinder.
