Kevin Pelton of ESPN lists point guard McKinley Wright IV of the Suns team as a player to watch in summer league beside Ish Wainright.

By Kevin Zimmerman of Arizona Sports:

But ESPN’s Kevin Pelton has a different player to keep an eye on as Summer League play begins Friday in Sin City against the Los Angeles Lakers.

That would be 23-year-old point guard McKinley Wright IV, who went undrafted last year. Writes Pelton:

In a must-read feature from Kevin Arnovitz before the draft, Suns GM James Jones outlined his philosophy on the limited utility of the draft. In something less than a coincidence, Phoenix has zero draft picks on its summer roster. Ish Wainright is the one returning Suns player on the roster, but there’s an opening for Wright to offer Phoenix depth at point guard after spending last season on a two-way contract with the Timberwolves.

It would be awesome if McKinley Wright IV could earn a two-way contract or sneak onto the Suns roster as a third or fourth point guard.

Here are some G-League stats.

Wright is doing a good job of running the summer Suns but he is small.

OK yeah, like what we are seeing from Sarr. If he nails a three point shot I'll be asking Smith who?

Wright is a small PG. BBRef lists him at 6'0 but I see a bunch of pre-draft (2021) listing him at 5'10". He saw very limited minutes for the Wolves, playing in 5 games and less than 18 minutes in total. He averaged 19 & 6 for their G-League team though.

Sarr is a 7 foot Center who saw some minutes for OKC. He played in 22 games, starting 2 and averaging 19 minutes a game. He seems like he might be a legit Two-Way candidate for us. He averaged 7 & 4 with .7 blocks a game and 57% from the field while shooting 45% from 3. He played some in the G-League, posting similar averages but worse from 3, only 19% on 1.6 attempts.

Sarr and Wright have a shot at Two-Way deals. Both have had Two-Way deals before. Sarr could be a good pickup, he saw a good bit of time in OKC.

I wrote the above before when summer League teams were revealed. Click their names at the beginning of each paragraph for their stats.

The Lakers don't really have any legit NBA prospects on their team either, but the Summer suns are playing hard. They look more mature for sure.

I really like Sarr. Nice box out for a rebound and solid screen. If Ayton fought like him for position, he'd already have his max.

Wainright is looking like a shooting guard.
