"I don't think we ever had like what expectations are supposed to look like. I think we just wanted to bring guys in here that played the right way, that went about their business the right way and they continue to get better and I think that's the part where we're at right now." Jordan Ott as Suns (31-22) are 7th in the West."Middle part of the season, post trade deadline. We just want to get better. Internally, we're going to add Jalen (Green).
That will change some things, but we just want to feel good these next stretch of games of exactly where we're at and some of these younger guys feeling the pressure of playing in big and meaningful games, which will innately get us better." #Suns

The rookies have to have that opportunity when you can in a winning season. The vets are worn down at this point in the season. You can visually see it the last couple of games. They needed a rest. Once the game was out of hand, I agree, put the rookies in extended minutes. If Maluach throws up, so be it.there is no amount of coaching that can make up for booker grayson and jalen - it's why our staff is being cautious - we're thinking playoffs
but i too would've liked to see the rookies more last night against okc - there was no chance of winning the game - it looked like all 3 had something to prove - they weren't trying to do too much and stayed within themselves
fleming actually produced - he's the stretch 4 we've all been waiting for - he wants it too - moves well without the ball - he can drive - he can screen - i think it's nothing but defense now because the rookie was boxing out really well
I'm old enough to remember coaches who never made in-game or even halftime adjustments, regardless of how badly we were getting killed out there. Hell, my 7yo grandson probably remembers.jordan ott is unpredictable yet methodical - brought all the starters back on the floor to finish the game instead of playing the traditional hot blend from both units
ott wanted that starting unit to be successful last night - to figure it out - gillespie book jalen oneale williams - i think ott called 3 timeouts solely to coach them
to me this suggests he wasn't worried about winning the game - he knew we'd win but he wanted to get some work in - specifically with the starters - they ended up gelling nice at end to close the game but the kings had already lowkey quit
i just like the way he doesn't change the lineup after timeouts when we're struggling - he doesn't want an alternative solution - he wants to fix the problem on the court
i don't know how many different starting lineups we've had but it has to be a lot - especially for a team 9 games over. 500 this late in the season - ott doesn't do scheduled rotations and anyone can start on any night - love that about him
we can be up by 20 and ott will still call time if we don't get back on defenseI'm old enough to remember coaches who never made in-game or even halftime adjustments, regardless of how badly we were getting killed out there. Hell, my 7yo grandson probably remembers.
Man I remember all the times that our last couple coaches didn't call time outs when the team was taking a right hook to the grill. It used to drive this forum NUTS. Even armchair coaches were better at recognizing when to call a timeout. Ott seems to be the first coach in a long time that recognizes this.we can be up by 20 and ott will still call time if we don't get back on defense
I imagine it's probably at the top of the league in different lineups. I was just thinking of all the lineups just the other day, and it was too many to remember.jordan ott is unpredictable yet methodical - brought all the starters back on the floor to finish the game instead of playing the traditional hot blend from both units

IDK, your 7 year old has seen a LOT of coaches on the Suns in his day. LOL.I'm old enough to remember coaches who never made in-game or even halftime adjustments, regardless of how badly we were getting killed out there. Hell, my 7yo grandson probably remembers.
I hope he's here for the next 10+ years. I won't mind if he doesn't get CotY as it's usually the beginning of the end of their stay but he's my CotY.2026 NBA Coach of the Year
I kinda think so.2026 NBA Coach of the Year
His only competition is JB Bickerstaff, who honestly, also deserves it. Pistons are 1st in the east by a wider margin than OKC is over the 2nd seed in the west.I kinda think so.
