So. The 2025 HS top prospect consensus list was as follows.

1. AJ Dybantsa
2. Peterson
3. Boozer
4. Ament
5. Wilson
6. Peat

The reason it changed. Peat led his team to the final four as a freshman. But in redraft workouts he shot horribly. That seems to be it. That simple.

This video gives a good size comparison of Koa Peat to Oso Ighodaro.

Oso is small but more explosive. Idk how to describe it but Peat jumps heavy or slow.

I've never watched live game footage of him, but his body weight (240+), athleticism and measurements tell me can play power forward. Also, his young age (19) tells me there is a real chance.

Now, whether that translates to the NBA remains to be seen. Peat is heavier than Oso.

imo, we've got to make risky moves like this to compensate for Booker's declining value on the court and increasing burden on our payroll. iow, we've got to get lucky. I could see Peat becoming another Dunn on the downside or a valuable starter on the up. If he does click, i believe the Suns need to make another adjustment. With his affinity for working in the paint at 6'7, we'd need a center whose NOT like Williams -- one who can shoot.

i hear he's smart, aggressive, and can play D. and "those are a few of my fa-vor-it things"

physically, he reminds me of Barkley. and considering he's only 19, that's exactly the way he could go. if we're lucky he might add an inch or two to his height, instead of just 20 pounds to his butt

Didn't realize Koa was a Klutch client

All of the Suns' top draft picks from the past two years are Klutch clients (Koa, Maluach, Fleming)

And they have four Klutch clients overall, including Dillon Brooks

In '24 when Oso was drafted, he was Klutch too

There are all kinds of potential outcomes for this. A lot depends on his work ethic. And maybe we get lucky and he has a late growth spurt... it's not impossible at 19.

On the other hand, if he's lazy and entitled, like you know who... well, that's not going to be good.

I really have no expectations. I like a lot of things about him but I really didn't see any improvement from him over the season, it's like we saw every skill he had in that opening game against Florida. And it worries me that I often found myself relaxing whenever Koa went to the bench and Awaka came in instead. Still, Peat was looking like a top 5 pick early in the season so getting him like this is a steal. Hopefully.

koa’s 235-240 lbs already. Size and girth aren’t his issues.

I just saw Avery Johnson compare him to Larry Johnson.

In the few clips I've seen his shot mechanics look fine. Not sure if he has 3pt range without changing something. Maybe try a push shot like Keaton Wagler (drafted #5 by the Clippers). That thing has deep range and is quite different from his (Peat's) current jumper.

I really think you are being way to hard on him. He is a 19 year old McDonald's All American who is a good athlete.

His mid range shot looks pretty good in practice actually, check out this vid.

I think this guy could give us something we need, a dude that can box out and score in the paint.
for nineteen the kid is looking pretty smooth.. maybe needs to be more assertive with his power.
