Bol Bol didn't improve here. He was essentially the same guy he was when he signed. Bol² did say KD was his favorite player growing up but that didn't seem to help him improve his game.

Durant played a lot of pickup BB but I don't think it helped anyone improve. It didn't build chemistry amongst the roster either.
I was responding to Leclerc wanting to see Maluach. We would get snippets of video on guy's when they went to play with KD. So that was the good thing, we would see them in the off season playing ball. My comment was in the vein of seeing the guys play before the season started.

That's fair. If you follow guys on Instagram most post highlights and clips of pickup games. I know Book does.

I haven't been using my Instagram lately. I guess I'll have to follow your recommendation! ;)

My Instagram algorithm was jacked up for a while but ever since I started blocking accounts instead of ignoring them it's gotten better. It sucks how spread out social media is now. Twitter has news, Insta is celebrities/athletes, and Facebook is hell. What's posted on Insta can easily be posted on Twitter or vice versa but it's naturally segregated in a weird way. I see more spam on Insta.

Here's Book's, which is a good place to start as he'll tag others.

And Jalen Green's

And Maluach also....

Solid competent game as a rookie. I don't know if any one else is noticing the level of leadership on the court calling out the defense. It takes confidence to do that as a rookie.

Given that he was 18 when we drafted from him, I expected very little from him this year.

But, he looks like he should see some minutes.

I like the hustle, but what I like the most is that he is attacking the rim. He gets the ball, with momentum towards the basket, and he goes at the rim, he elevates. We have not had a big do that in a long while.

I agree with everything you said here except the fact he elevates. On a dunk or two, he does, but he tends to play on the floor, just using his height--especially on defense.

He doesn't need to jump to 100% of his ability, he's got the height already.

Anyway, last night just makes the Ayton pick even worse.

Mostly agree, but hopefully we will see Man Man learn more when he needs to explode to the basket.

I can't wait to see Maluach vs Wemby. He's got the size and length that he very well could be the toughest defender Wemby faces.

It was on a Suns pregame show they interviewed one of the Suns, I don't remember who, and they said he is very vocal on defense. Already calling out defensive match ups, etc. The Suns player also said he is non stop talking and laughing off the court.Maluach is not a reserved rookie.

I think I saw what you did or someone else hyped his activity as a director on defense. I think it was Dunn but I'm not positive.

This kid has all the tools to be something special. It'll take some time for him to apply himself but it should pay dividends.

He has the physical tools, plus lots of confidence combined with humility which is a very rare thing, and he has leadership ability. I have to assess leadership skills all the time and Maluach gives lots of early indications. And its not the crazy kind of arrogant outgoing thing that Embiid has. He is looking like the kind of player that other players want to follow.
We will see, it is very early.

He is hard to compare to someone else. I can see a lot of Rudy Gobert in him because his teammates trust him but they don't quite trust his reads or direction yet. Coming from Duke though he has experience at a high level program so he can be trusted a bit more. The sky is the limit for Maluach but I see no worse than Tyson Chandler from him on defense and that will give us an anchor for a decade.

I haven't seen a lot of interviews of him yet. He strikes me as very smart. I hope so.

Now play him and let him shoot these. I hope this isn't without reason like how Amare would shoot 3's in practice regularly but never in games. Although that did give Amare a great jumper out to like 18-20 feet which made him lethal. The league has changed and bigs who can shoot are the only bigs worth max paydays.

He shot them in summer league, so I think he won’t hesitate in season.

What I like:

His shot form is fluid
His shot form looks consistent

If those persist and his confidence grows he will be a reasonable threat from outside.

Also, he's got a great arc on it. Like EJ is always saying, that gives it a better chance to go in.
